All Facilities Will Delay Opening Until 11 a.m Thursday
All Town facilities including Town Hall, The Clayton Center, Hocutt-Ellington Memorial Library and Clayton Parks & Recreation's Clayton Community Center will remain closed tonight and delay opening until 11 a.m. on Thursday. The hill at Amelia Church Rd. & 70 is blocked due to dangerous conditions. Road crews will be plowing, but plowing is not very effective on ice. Conditions may be treacherous Thursday morning. All Star Waste says garbage will possibly not run or be delayed Thursday, but they advise everyone to get carts to the curb if possible!

Long-Awaited Greenway Bridge Replacement Beginning
The popular Clayton River Walk on the Neuse greenway took a hit during Hurricane Matthew. The floodwaters picked up and damaged the bridge near Marks Creek and Charleston Drive. We've now secured funding from FEMA and obtained environmental/safety approvals at the state level, so we’re able to finally move forward to demolish and remove the old bridge and install a brand-new steel one. Work is beginning and, if weather cooperates, the bridge should be ready for use in early March. The construction area will be completely blocked off to users of the greenway. Walkers, runners and bikers will NEED to use the detour. Click for map & details.
