Fire Department Advisory Board

The Fire Department Advisory Board is an advisory board made up of representatives appointed from one Town resident, one Clayton Tax District resident, and three members of the Fire Department by the Town Council. The Town resident and Clayton Tax District resident serve four (4) year staggered terms, and the three Fire Department members serve three (3) year staggered terms. Vacancies occurring for reasons other than the expiration of terms shall be filled for the unexpired term only by the legislative body responsible for original appointment.

The purpose of the advisory board is to insure that there are adequate personnel, revenue, and equipment for the protection of life and property to the citizens of the Town and the Clayton Fire District. All resources will be used in the fairest and most efficient manner possible for all concerned.

The Fire Department Advisory Board assists the Fire Chief with annual budget planning and assists with short and lon-term capital improvements planning. In addition, the Fire Department Advisory Board may contribute to the annual performance review of the Fire Chief by participating in completion of standard evaluation form and offering constructive feedback.

Regular meetings are held bi-monthly. Members must attend at least four meetings each year to remain in good standing.
