Clayton Planning Board Room

The Planning Board

The Planning Board advises Town Council regarding rezoning requests, special use permits, text amendments, and other development related items.

The Planning Board is also responsible for the final decision (to approve or deny) on major site applications for new development projects, such as new retail uses, restaurants, apartment buildings, or commercial buildings.   To find out more about this Board, click here.

Board of Adjustment

The Board of Adjustment serves to interpret the Town’s ordinances and polices for any and all situations. The Board also decides whether to grant variances – deviations from what the Town’s ordinances allow. The Board is a “quasi-judicial” board, which means the Board’s power is above that of the code enforcement officer, but below that of the court system.  To learn more about what the Board of Adjustment does for the Town, click here.
