Wi-Fi is provided free of charge in the following areas of the Town of Clayton, NC:
- The four block area along Main Street between South Fayetteville Street and South Lombard Street
- The Clayton Center
- Hocutt-Ellington Memorial Library
- Clayton Community Center
- Clayton Law Enforcement Center
- Fire Station One
- Public Works Operations Center
By using the Town’s Wi-Fi you agree to the terms and conditions set forth below.
All users of the Town’s Wi-Fi shall:
ACT LAWFULLY - Do NOT act in any way that could be unlawful or encourage others to act unlawfully. Do NOT infringe intellectual property rights, do NOT reveal confidential or sensitive information and do NOT engage in any criminal offense or encourage others to do so.
ACT RESPONSIBLY – Do NOT act in any way that could be construed as harassing, defamatory, threatening, obscene, abusive, racist, sexist, offensive or otherwise objectionable or inappropriate. Do NOT pretend to be anyone other than yourself. Do NOT collect email addresses or other personal details or use the Wi-Fi to send spam.
ACT REASONABLY – Do NOT use the Town’s Wi-Fi access in any way that may affect the running of the Town’s Wi-Fi or network or other technology connected to it (for example, other Wi-Fi users’ devices). In particular do NOT upload or download very large files and make sure your device is protected by up-to-date anti-virus software.
ACT PRUDENTLY – Do NOT conduct personal business or share sensitive personal information while connected to the Town’s Wi-Fi.
ACT COURTEOUSLY – Do NOT “camp” on the Town’s Wi-Fi and attempt to limit or prevent the use of others. The Town’s Wi-Fi resource is limited and is meant to serve a broad audience. As such, sessions will be limited to a thirty minute duration. After thirty minutes, users will be logged out and will be required to sign into a new session to continue use.
Town of Clayton Wi-Fi is provided free of charge and we encourage you to use it, but there may be times when it is not available due to technical, legal or operational reasons. We may also control the types of material that can be sent or received over the Wi-Fi. For example, we have controls in place that may prevent streaming of video, online games, and sites that are known to contain offensive content. Blocking of such sites will be at the sole discretion of the Town and are not subject to negotiation.
Use of the Wi-Fi is at your own risk and the Town is not responsible for any damages, losses, costs or expenses you suffer because the Wi-Fi is unavailable, does not operate as expected or causes loss or damage to any data. You are responsible to the Town of Clayton for all damage, losses, costs or expenses suffered by the Town of Clayton arising out of any breach by you of these rules. The Town of Clayton may choose, at its sole discretion, to suspend your access to the Wi-Fi at any time and for any duration.
If the Town of Clayton becomes subject to a claim or request for information about your use of the Town’s Wi-Fi, we may disclose information about you (for example, your IP address or the email address you provided when accessing the Town’s Wi-Fi).
