We love our seasons in North Carolina, especially the Fall where the leaves change beautiful color and....fall all over your yard!
Most of our neighboring towns only offer loose leaf pick-up once or twice a season. The Town of Clayton offers premier service - for four months straight we pick up EVERY SINGLE WEEK!! Can you believe it? We'll come every week to suck up those leaves!
LOOSE LEAF PICK-UP BEGINS OCT. 1st
& ENDS THE LAST WEEK IN JANUARY!!
Don't mess with bags
- leave it to the leaf truck! The easiest way to remember when the leaf truck is coming: we hit your street the day following your trash collection. If we miss you on that day, don’t worry, we’re probably just a little behind and we’ll try to come by the very next day. Sometimes we have such large volumes of leaves that we can't complete routes as quickly as we'd like. We're dedicated to getting neighborhoods looking great each week! Our self-contained leaf truck which can be operated by just one staff member is powerful and works to cover the entire town in a week's time.
All we ask is that you pile the leaves up between the sidewalk and the curb. Let’s say that again, pile up the leaves between the sidewalk and the curb. Don’t put them way out in the street! And please don't cover up your fire hydrants!
If you don’t have sidewalks, place them back from the curb and onto the very edge of the grass. Leaves piled in the street can block the roadway. Loose leaf pick up normally runs from Oct. 1st to January 31st.
YOU CAN ALWAYS BAG YOUR LEAVES FOR FREE WEEKLY PICK-UP TOO!
If you simply don't like the mess of loose leaf piles, you can always bag, box, or containerize your leaves - NO PROBLEM! Leaves, grass clippings, pine straw, shrubbery clippings or other small natural debris are picked-up YEAR-ROUND, EVERY WEEK FOR FREE by our contractor, Waste Management. Throw it in plastic bags, boxes, or other plastic/metal containers (no greater than 50 gallons each) and put them at the curb. They'll be picked up on your yard waste day. Not sure when that is? Find your street on this list and you'll see your yard waste day of the week. Again, please don't mix large limbs, trash, rocks or dirt with your leaves!
More than leaves? As long as they're not mixed with the leaves, Waste Management will collect limbs placed at your curb. The limbs must be no greater than 4 inches in diameter and no longer than 6 feet in length. If the limbs are between 4-10 inches in diameter, they must be cut to 2-foot lengths. Limbs should be stacked neatly behind the curb or sidewalk with cut ends towards the street.
