CodeRed Public Notification System

All residents should be aware that the Town of Clayton, through Johnston County, subscribes to a very important emergency and event notification system, CodeRed.  The CodeRed system is a telephone call based public communication system that is useful to contact residents and businesses in the event of an emergency situation or other event where mass public communication would be beneficial.  The system accesses large, existing databases of phone numbers as a means to create the local call list, but the emergence of Internet based phone services, wireless phone providers, and other circumstances mean that not every number in Town is included.

All residents are strongly encouraged to participate in the system.  If you are a resident and have never received an automated call from the Town of Clayton you are likely not on the call list as we have used the system to great benefit over the past year.  In addition, you can subscribe more than one number to the system which is useful for residents who have land lines and cell phones.

The Town does not overuse the system so you need not worry about receiving a large number of aggrevating calls which interrupt your evening dinner.  Likewise, the call list is private and confidential.  We do not distribute it to anyone for other uses.  Take a few minutes to click on the link below and enter your call information.  If you are already in the database, no worries, it will sort out the duplicate record.  You will not receive two calls to the same number.  Also, people from around the Town, County, and State access our website for useful information on events and the like, but only residents within the Town of Clayton are eligible for participation in our CodeRed calling system so if you submit a number with an address that is outside of Town your number will not be added to the list.  Thank you for your time and attention to this very important matter.
