Come Celebrate the Heart of Clayton!
The Clayton Center's 10th Anniversary GALA
A decade ago, the Town of Clayton and hundreds of community supporters had a vision: to preserve a precious piece of the town’s wonderful past and at the same time create a modern-day treasure that would become a jewel for residents and visitors alike. Watch how the did it here.
Few could have conceived that from the crumbling walls of a small town elementary and high school would rise a performing arts center capable of attracting Grammy-Award winning artists and Tony-award winning productions. Who could imagine the stage would showcase such greats as Doc Watson, Kathy Mattea, Colin Hay, Ricky Skaggs, or the Harlem Gospel Choir?
And who would have guessed, ten years later, those buildings could not only serve as a bustling Town Hall, but as a state-of-the-art conference center that not only attracts Fortune 500 companies for business events, but intimate weddings, vibrant cultural arts shows, and almost daily community meetings.
On Saturday, December 1st, we invite you to come reminisce about the amazing renovation of two historic Clayton schools and celebrate 10 years of wildly successful seasons at The Clayton Center. It’s a must-attend, all-out, cocktails, dinner, music, dancing, blowout, once-in-a lifetime, you’ve-just-gotta-go GALA! Don’t miss this chance to celebrate together our past, present and future!

The festivities begin with a pre-show reception where you can mingle with other patrons, reminisce about your favorite shows from the past 10 seasons and whet your appetite for an exceptional performance by pianist Jim Witter and his band.
Witter performed at the Clayton Center in 2005, merging the songs of Billy Joel and Elton John with a walk through 1970s history in his show, Piano Men. His latest presentation, The Long and Winding Road, uses the same multimedia approach to explore the music of legendary songwriting duo John Lennon and Paul McCartney. Using the big screen to display images and tell the stories behind the songs, Witter masterfully mingles music, words and photographs to deliver a nostalgic evening honoring the memory of music’s most iconic performers. Get a glimpse here.
As a Gala participant, you’ve got a ticket to ride on this Magical Mystery Tour of some of the Beatles’ biggest hits, including “Yesterday,” “A Hard Day’s Night,” “Hey Jude” and countless others. When the curtain comes down on the show, the party continues with dancing to the music of the Central Park Band and an extraordinary dinner buffet.
Thanks to private and corporate donations, EVERY SINGLE penny of the ticket price goes to improving The Clayton Center with lighting and equipment that will help attract even better artists and theatrical productions. EVERY SINGLE PENNY.

Conveniently located in the heart of downtown Clayton, one block off Main Street, and less than 30 minutes from Raleigh, The Clayton Center has gained a reputation for being among the most desired and inspired venues in the area for entertainment, arts, business and community functions.
Just this year, multi-platinum Grammy-Award winner Colin Hay, the swinging sounds of Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, and the Broadway hit “Nunset Boulevard” staring Laverne & Shirley’s Cindy Williams, have graced the stage of the perfectly-restored 600-seat theater.
Clayton is blossoming into a cultural arts destination and there is no better symbol of that progress than the magnificent Clayton Center. Town leaders are convinced more than ever that the arts are essential to the town’s economic development and quality of life for our citizens.
Help usher in another decade for this incredible Clayton gem!
