The Town of Clayton operates its stormwater system under local and state regulations to manage runoff, prevent flooding, and protect water quality. The system includes a network of storm drains, culverts, and stormwater control measures (SCMs) that direct runoff into local waterways, such as the Neuse River and its tributaries. As part of the Neuse River Basin, Clayton’s stormwater program focuses on reducing pollution, controlling erosion, and maintaining sustainable drainage infrastructure. Through education, enforcement, and maintenance, the Town works to protect our environment and ensure a resilient community.
