The Clayton Police Department is offering an Active Shooter Class every month through the end of this year. The first class is next Tuesday, June 28th from 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM.

Clayton Police Officer, Neal Johnson, is leading the classes which cover the history and prevalence of active shooter events, civilian response options, medical issues, and considerations for conducting drills.

The Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE) course is designed and built on the Avoid, Deny, Defend (ADD) strategy developed by ALERRT, the Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training at Texas State University. It provides strategies, guidance, and a proven plan for surviving an active shooter event.

Each session takes place from 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM in the Clayton Police Department training room and is limited to 20 participants.

To learn more or sign-up, contact Officer Neal Johnson at njohnson@townofclaytonnc.org.
