Public Meetings & Hearings

This page provides information on upcoming Public Hearings PH, Public Meetings PM, and Evidentiary Public Hearings EH for development projects within the Town of Clayton's Planning Jurisdiction. The Town's Unified Development Ordinance requires one of these meeting types for the following actions:

  • Annexations PH: inclusion of land into Clayton's Corporate Limits.
  • Conditional Rezonings PM & PH: a rezoning of property per Conditions of Approval with or without an associated Concept Plan.
  • Conventional Rezonings PM & PH: a rezoning of property to a zoning district without Conditions of Approval and without a Concept Plan.
  • Special Use Permits EH: a use of property established through the evidence of compliance to the Town's standards.
  • Street Closures PH: the closing of a Town right-of-way and relinquishing of Town ownership and maintenance (may also apply to NCDOT).
  • Unified Development Ordinance Text Amendments PM & PH: changes to the Unified Development Ordinance, which governs land development in Clayton's planning area.
  • Variances EH: a request to deviate from certain standards of the Unified Development Ordinance that are not a self-imposed hardship.

All public hearings, public meetings and evidentiary public hearings are held in the Town of Clayton's Town Council Chambers located at 111 E Second St. Clayton, NC, 27520 and begin at 6:00 PM, unless otherwise posted here.

    Rezone 4.19 acres from Residential Planned District (PD-R) to a Conditional Residential (CZR) zoning district.
  2. Powhatan Self Storage Rezoning, 2025-147-RX

    March 16, 2026, 6:00 PM at 111 E Second St, Clayton, NC
    Rezone the currently split zoned parcel from Residential Large Lot (RLL) and Corridor Commercial (CRM), to a unified Corridor Commercial (CRM)
  3. Kenney, Troxler, Yeargan, Tree of Life Properties, 2026-05-RZ

    March 16, 2026, 6:00 PM at 111 E Second St, Clayton, NC
    Rezoning of four parcels of land totaling 476.82 acres to assign an initial Town of Clayton zoning designation of RLL, Residential Large Lot
