Our network of trails, including Sam's Branch Greenway and Clayton River Walk on the Neuse, provides miles of scenic beauty and outdoor adventure. These greenways are vital to our community, connecting residents to nature and offering safe, family-friendly spaces to exercise and explore. However, periodic maintenance or weather-related closures may require temporary detours or trail adjustments. With Greenway Alerts, you'll know exactly what's happening so you can plan your outing with confidence.

Greenway Safety & Flooding

Greenway corridors protect environmentally sensitive areas that can be prone to flooding. To provide public access to nature, greenway trails are planned in these corridors where appropriate. Keeping this in mind, flooding can occur unexpectedly on the trail during periods of heavy rainfall. Always check for alerts and updates before heading out to ensure your safety and enjoyment of the trails.
